Which Way Venus?

Which way is Venus?
We were walking along the Coastal Trail when Rosalie texted us to turn around.
By the parking lot above the Sutro Baths, people were looking at Venus!
This guy let us look through his telescope (equipped with a hydrogen filter).

Wow. Makes you want to start carrying a hydrogen filter around. What a fantastic moment to experience. I'm truly grateful you shared it with us.

Hi Mary Ann!

Anon, I haven't read Shirley Hazzard's book. Do you think I'd like it? I liked seeing Venus against the sun at the very time it was moving across the sun. (Rather than seeing it online after the fact.) It's exciting when so many people are watching it at the same time. The two guys who had the telescope had traveled here all the way from Virginia Beach on Amtrak in order to find a place to set up and watch it. They were so excited and happy, and dying to show everyone who walked by.

I know. That dog was so funny. Boswell was his name, but it shoulda been Jupiter.

Booda, thanks for your nice message.
